My best friend of 20 years dumped / ditched me. What should I do?

Query by Nina: My greatest buddy of twenty years dumped / ditched me. What need to I do?
Kay (not her true name) was my greatest buddy for 20 many years. We met when have been have been extremely youthful, just teenagers. She was maid of honor at my wedding and I was matron of honor at hers. We had our first young children very near jointly. Our husbands have been good pals and we ended up part of all the huge moments in each others lives.

Nonetheless about 2 years in the past I known as her to give her my new telephone range and she was cold and distant, and produced it clear she didn't want to speak to me. I asked her what was incorrect, had I carried out anything at all and was advised she was occupied. She said she didn't have a pen to take down my new range and that she would contact me back. She never ever did.
Soon after about six months of her not responding to emails, birthday/Xmas gifts and cards and her ignoring my daughter's birthday, I recognized it was above. I wrote her a letter acknowledging the conclude of the friendship, and thanked her for her friendship over the many years and advised her how much it meant to me, I wished her all the very best for the potential and explained goodbye. She by no means replied.

It hurt like hell that she could just stroll absent after we had been by means of so significantly jointly and not even inform me why she dumped me, allow on your own say goodbye.

Anyway two a long time later, for the duration of the horrific bush fires that we had in Victoria this February, the fires came inside a handful of kilometers of their residence, so my husband rang her husband to see if they ended up okay. He was aparently happy to hear from my husband and mentioned that they noticed on the news how shut the bushfires had arrive to us (the fire had come 300 metres of our front door, we had to evacuate). He said he would ring my husband back again but he never did till about 3 weeks ago, when he rang and said that it would be wonderful if we could all catch up together. My husband asked him what had took place two decades back, what had we completed, and he explained that they had just been active (for over two decades!!??).
When my husband informed me about the phone call, my initial response was 'NO WAY I really don't want to see her!' which surprised me, soon after missing her so considerably I didn't want to see her at all. I feel the damage went also deep.
I do not even know if this was an try to reinstate our friendship, to say that they had been also occupied for two years was dishonest and insulting to our the moment shut friendship, and fundamentally says that I suggest absolutely nothing to her. Perhaps I would have felt various if she had rang me.

We haven't contacted them again, and I don't know if this is the appropriate point to do, to be truthful I don't even know if she needs me to speak to her.

What need to I do?
